The best women surfers in the world came to Manly beach for the Havaianas Beachley Classic to compete for the most prize money ever in a womens surfing event. Layne Beachley put this event together, the main competition ran from Monday till Wednesday. 18 surfers all up including 1 wild card. Day 1 started with the trials to see who would get the wildcard into the main event. The winner of the wildcard was Stephanie Gilmore.
